I haven’t plugged an ImproMafia show for weeks and weeks. If it wasn’t for the fact that we’ve just resumed the serious business of making up funny shit after the Christmas holidays, this would be most out of character. Fear not! We’re back for 2011 in a very, very big way. I am ridiculously excited because it involves me joining the Rat Pack (or something very similar). I have a very deep and profound love for impro songs, and for finger-snapping swing tunes. I am not exactly a soprano, so anything that involves lots of belting makes me very happy. I’m dying to get into the costume department for this show. Oh! The possibilities for wigs!
We’re also trying out a new timeslot. Our longform shows have always run on Sunday evenings (at the lovely Brisbane Arts Theatre). This particular show is going to be on a Friday. After all, it wouldn’t be Vegas if you had to get up and go to work in the morning.
Enough rambling. Have your secretary take a memo about the following:
Martini Time!
Loosen that bow tie and pop another olive into that dry martini: Impromafia is kicking off a new year at the Brisbane Arts Theatre with Martini Time, an all-singing, all-dancing Vegas spectacular that will have you clicking those fingers and tapping those toes.
Starring – live and in person! – the gin-soaked crooners and dames of Impromafia’s very own Rat Pack, Martini Time packs in all your favourite off-the-cuff musical hits. You’ll also meet the big-leaguers, managers and ring-a-ding broads that populate the city of lights. And life’s such a gas when Vegas’ best stand up takes to the mic to perform his made-up comedy stylings mere feet from you and your cocktails.
So doll yourself up and dress to the nines… it’s a night out at the theatre to remember! It’s the living end! It’s Martini Time!

Yowza! This is almost as exciting as the big exciting news I have that I’m not allowed to tell you yet.
